Breezy, easy, beautiful takes on a whole new meaning during
the summer months when getting that effect for your hair can feel downright
impossible. What with beads of perspiration running down your neck and making
your hair limp, not to mention the frizziness resulting from the odd summer
storm and humidity, most girls save their best styles for winter and fall.
Don't let that be you! With a few tricks for no-fail hairstyles, you can look
just as sexy when the sun is at its yearly zenith. Just remember, summer calls
for less formality, which is a blessing because it means less time spent in
front of the mirror styling.
Ashley Greene's
Side-Swept Braid
This is the perfect way to get your hair off
your neck, but still create the "down" effect. It's cool enough for
daytime and with the right outfit and makeup is sexy enough for nighttime. This
look works well if you have hair with natural texture. If your locks are pin
straight, use a curling iron, wrapping sections around the barrel to create it.
The first step is to work a bit of mousse into wet hair for volume and
definition. Allow your hair to air dry or blow dry with the diffuser
attachment. Curl if needed. Create a deep side part with a comb at your scalp.
Gather your hair and lay all of it to one side over your shoulder. Starting at
the top of your shoulder, loosely braid and secure with an elastic at the
bottom. Back comb the braid gently to create a messy look.

Jessica Biel's Loose Waves
Loose waves have been in for a while. But do
you know how to get it just right? If your hair is prone to frizz, work in a
de-frizz serum into damp hair. Blow it dry with your nozzle attachment pointed
downward (this helps your hair cuticles remain flat). Once hair is dry, pin it
up into sections. Take down one two-inch section at a time and clamp the end in
a medium to large barrel curling iron. Curl the section away from your face,
keep the iron at a 45-degree angle. Repeat throughout your entire head. The
bigger the iron, the looser the wave.

Rosario Dawson's
Faux Bob
This is one way to achieve the look of a
shorter style without cutting into your mane; it keeps your neck and shoulders
cool on the hottest days and nights, too. Another option: use this as a
second-day look for your waves to save time on styling. Start with wavy hair,
if yours doesn't have natural texture, create it with a curling iron, similar
to the previous slide. Create a deep side part at your scalp with a comb. Put
an elastic at the bottom of your hair, several inches up from the tip. Roll the
small pony toward your neck and under the bulk of your hair. Use bobby pins to
pin it in place. Leave out shorter, loose ends that didn't make it under.
Finish with a spritz of hairspray. Feel free to pull out shorter pieces at the
front for a messier look.

Nicole Richie's
Easy Pony
People tend to overthink the ponytail. They
assume it's too casual or needs to be sleek and perfect to wear to an event.
Here Nicole Richie shows that simply isn't the case. This is another winning
second-day look in the summer. There's something about a slightly messy
ponytail that drives the boys wild. Grab the bulk of your hair in the
middle-back of your scalp and loosely wrap an elastic around it. Take each side
of the pony tail and pull them away from each other. This will tighten the
style and create texture at your scalp. Back comb the ponytail for more
texture, if you choose.

Gwen Stefani's
Top Knot
This is possibly the easiest style of all; it
takes seconds once you have the hang of it. You can create a traditional bun at
the top of your head by creating a ponytail there and twisting it until it
coils around the elastic. Or you can make something messier. Grab your hair as
if you're going to create a high ponytail. Wrap the tail around the index
finger of the hand that's holding it up. The end of the tail should be at the
front of your head. Wrap the elastic around the loop you created without pulling
the ends all the way through. Pull and separate the loop with your fingers for
a messy vibe.
